Hey Jerry, I’ve been doing a bit of ‘housecleaning’ and I’ve just realized that, although I am following this particular blog (and it states above that I am following) one of your other sites appears as the one that I’m following in my stats; if you follow what I mean..! Naturally, I’m not receiving your posts… Don’t quite know what to do about it. I’ve ‘unfollowed’ and then ‘followed’ again however, this doesn’t change the status quo…
Has anyone else had this situation?
Hi Carolyn, this is the first time I have heard of that happening! But now that I think about it, some of the blogs I used to get email updates for haven’t been coming through…you just made me pay attention again.
This is the case with 2 other blogs that appear in my stats as being ‘followed’. Think I’ll put in a request to the tech guys; see if they can sort it..! I’ll let you know..!
Hello Jerry, thank you for mentioning me on your twitter post. I started project Still in Belgrade on Indiegogo American platform, me and a friend of mine want to make on line magazine and we need a bit of Support. Check it out please on http://www.indiegogo.com/stillinbelgrade
and keep it up with your blog and business.
Hi Christine, you are very welcome for the twitter mention and I tweeted about your project on Indegogo as well. Great concept! Best wishes and I will donate to the cause as well.
Thank You , We are not doing really fine, people from eastern Europe i guess don’t really understand concept of funding platforms!! Best regards!! and keep it up with good work!
Thanks and same to you!
Hello Jerry, I’ve enjoyed reading your comments. Just a little about me… I started blogging purely because I was asked (by my guidance) to do so in order to make a start on the reflections that I do…. I’ve enjoyed the little networking that I’ve done however; I’m not that ‘into it’ yet; I really don’t have the time (with quite a few irons on the stove currently). However; you seem like a hell of a nice guy and I’d be pleased to come on over occasionally to see what you are up to…. Cheers Carolyn – By the way; should you like a reflection done on an animal of your choosing I’d be pleased to do that for you…..
Hi Carolyn, thanks for stopping by my blog, I do get to read your reflections from time-to-time and hey are always well written. I am not certain an animal reflection would fit my readership although I DO throw them a surprise every now and then! I think if I had to choose an animal, it would be the elephant because of its memory and dedication to the family unit. Would love to post something like that…let me know and I would be happy to host the guest post from you.
Jerry
Not for that reason have I offered to do a reflection for you…!
Purely for you (and not for you to host the post) was my intention… Just a simple gift, is all..
I have already posted a reflection for the African Elephant; and yes, I agree, they certainly epitomise memory and dedication to the family unit, as you wrote…

Looks like an impressive profile, honored to be followed by you. Thank you for your time. Have a great day and stay blessed!
Thank you so much for viewing my profile…it continues to be a work in progress!
you’re welcome.
Thanks for the reminders. Forgot about the Princess Di stuff. Wow! That was over the top. I think I’ll keep my mouth shut. Maybe the Houston thing is not so extraordinary. Everytime I see a velvet Elvis painting I’m thinking ‘get a life.’ Thanks for you insight.
Kenton
You are welcome Kenton…reminder, I am NOT saying don’t do the piece but I would love to see it developed into something deeper than just a rant about media…perhaps it could be developed into a feature style piece discussing media and its role in canonizing celebrities…despite their human failures. I would think if you covered both the celebrity and humanity side of the story that you would have developed a major piece of work…
Well Kenton…when Elvis died, there was worldwide coverage and dude laid in state for viewing for almost 3 months…his home Graceland is STILL a tourist shrine LOL…the ONLY reason he did not get this type of coverage is because it didn’t exist at the time…but for about 20 years, Elvis and his life was a huge media item, even down to Eddie Murphy creating a segment in his stand up routine.
The ruination of a good person, is always worth covering even if it is as an example of what NOT to get into. Hey the movie the DOORS is a biopic of the their lead singer and the effect his disappearance had on not just the group but fans around the world.
Legends are made from coverage of the life and times of great musical personalities…that is a simple fact. Jimi Hendrix has an annual birthday event sponsored by BMI (it used to be a the Coconut Teaser in Los Angeles until it shut down), where they give away a guitar in a competition. Tours at Graceland are up and one of the greatest revenue streams for the Presley Estate…I could go on and on and on about these things.
I would say, do your blog piece but make certain you are fair and cover the WHOLE aspect of over-coverage of celebrity deaths and how the industry, specifically media, exploit their downfalls for profit. Don’t get caught in a web that makes you look like you are picking on the death of just one person…hell throw in Princess Diana too…shit she didn’t do a damn thing for humanity that her publicity office didn’t make her do.
Jerry,
Do you think the Whitney Houston thing is overdone?
Kenton,
I don’t think it’s anymore over done than Elvis or Bruce Lee. She was a game changing talent in her heyday but fell the way many other superstars have over the decades. Drugs and too much fame cost them their individuality, some people cannot handle the pressure.
I am of like mind with Wendy Day one of the industries top minds in my opinion…Whitney was another drug user who suffered the consequences of her lifestyle and met an inevitable end…death.
As for celebrating her life and contribution to the music industry, I do not believe that recognition is being overplayed in in shape form or fashion. I do not see Whitney as a hero of humanity but I do see her as a great light in the music industry.
Hope that answers your question.
Jerry
Value your opinion. My thoughts exactly. When Elvis died we didn’t have News Channels that played wall to wall coverage.
My thinking was she was not a MLK, Rosa Parks or JFK and so on. Her contribution is narrow at best. I think she is being exploited in her death much as when she lived. To the public she’s a great singer: that’s it. Let’s not make her a humanitarian. I was going to write a blog, but maybe not. (Not about her, but the coverage.) I sometimes feel terrible about things like people dieing and the media and music industry exploiting it. I don’t want to add to it.
Hello Jerry, you are loved, Congratulations! I nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award, check it out here:
