Chicago Hip Hop powerhouse Blanco Cain gives The Hype Magazine an inside look at who he is, what makes him tick and his moves for the future! His interview proves him to be NOT your standard issue rapper.
Who is Blanco Caine and where are you from?
Blanco Caine is an entrepreneur. I’m completely self employed and investing in myself. I’m a father of two, a Gemini (yeah, it’s two of me…lol), and an all-around hustler. Oh yeah, I’m a dope ass rapper too! LOL
I’m born, raised, & reside in Chicago…ChiRaq is what most call it. Home of the 6 rings.
Describe your style?
A laid back flow and very visual. Every verse I rap, you can close your eyes and picture what I’m talking about. I tell it how I see it and don’t care about who gets offended.
Do you believe that your music will withstand the test of time?
Definitely, there are so many people in the world that are going through the same things that I have. The game doesn’t change…just the players. Time effects trends. Rappers that gave you substance still gain new fans even if the beats are outdated.
Will the stories you lay out create some timeless Hip Hop classics?
I think so because like I said, the next generation is going through the same things that we are. The economy for most of us is not getting better, but getting worse, so most are going to have to take the same chances I took. When I look at Pac, Scarface, & Big, I know I can give the people what they gave me…motivation, hope, opinion, rebellion. That’s gangsta and timeless.
Describe the hip-hop scene in your city?
The hip-hop scene in Chicago is extremely diverse and steadily on the rise. Never before have we had so many artist signed and getting paid shows. You’ve got artists that rap about the streets with drugs/violence/gangs/money, consciousness/culture, pimping, partying, you name it! LOL
You have been touring with LEP Bogus Boys, how did that affiliation come about? Will there be a major project coming from you with that crew?
Actually my right hand man BoDi Deeder brought me to their studio. Man, we just clicked instantly. They some good dudes…my brothas fa life Shout out LEP!!!
A project with them? Only time will tell. Lol. They’re pretty busy, especially after their recent signing with Interscope.
What other artists have you had the opportunity to work with?
Man, a lot of ‘em. Mikkey Halsted who I grew up with in Chicago. Mikk is like a big brother to me. We’ve done quite a few records together. Kanye’s DJ/Treated Crew’s Million Dollar Mano, Mc Tree who MTV gave mixtape of the year last year, my homie Wes Fif out of Orlando, BMF’s Calico Jonez, & Young Buck…Free Young Buck man!! Quite a few others are on White America, but I don’t wanna spoil it for the project. LOL
