Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard, MA (BlackNews.com) — The Harlem Fine Arts Show Art Festival comes to Martha’s Vineyard Island for four days in August. The HFAS has become the premiere showcase for exhibiting modern and contemporary art that reflects the breadth of the African Diasporic art.
This exciting exhibit will bring together a diverse group of collectors, power brokers and art enthusiasts to celebrate the imagination and spirit of the visual community. The HFAS will be held under an 8,000 square foot state of the art tent with hardwood floors, located at Hooked Restaurant and club in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. The scheduled dates are August 9th – August 12th, from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
The show will feature the work of over 30 established and emerging artists from multicultural backgrounds. The Harlem Fine Arts Show Art Festival will be hosting special events such as specialty wine tasting; Island brewed beer and local photography to name a few.
ARTISTS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING:
Mr. Glen Tunstull’s career began as a fashion illustrator after several years at Parsons School of Design in New York. He worked for WWD and other well-known design publications. His career includes working with high end fashion designers and retailers. After a period of global travel, his paintings started to represent lust landscapes. As his work developed, a sense of abstraction emerged while the desire to represent reality remained strongly present.
Mr. Paul Goodnight’s work is very unique and aesthetically pleasing. He typically incorporates African symbols and themes. His artwork currently resides in many homes, institutions and private collections including the Smithsonian and Hampton Institute.
Mr. Woodrow Nash’s intriguing ceramic sculptures present an innovative marriage of 15th century Benin and 18th century French Nouveau, creating what he has coined “African Nouveau.”
Mrs. Jeanine Primm Jones is one of the up and coming artists. Jeanine catches your attention with art that includes therapeutic slogans such as “no friends with benefits.” Another favorite is “Wait for love… you deserve benefits with love.”
Mr. Herold Alvares, a Haitian artist born without arms who began painting at the age of eight. He paints with his mouth and feet.
