ALBUM REVIEW: R.O.M.E. BY PHILLY'S ICH (INNER CITY HUSTLERS) @jimmydasaint1 @thehypemagazine | The Hype Magazine 24/7 News

ICH Gang under the leadership of Jimmy DaSaint, continues to expand on the legacy of the “Sound of Philly” which brought many many legendary artists who we won’t list for fear of annoying someone because we left out a particular name.  EVERYBODY in the world music and entertainment knows about Philly and its iconic musical greats as well as the contributions of that city to music history globally.  This group, ICH, is going to be another one of those rapidly associated with the musical legacy of Philadelphia…period!

ICH’s newest project dropping April 13th is entitled “R.O.M.E.” (Ride On My Enemies) and is a 15-track train ride of various stylings brought to life by this 8 member crew.  All songs were written and produced by ICH…yup they do it ALL!!!  We get to meet, via music, the personalities that make up this diverse group and they leave it all on the field for their fans and listeners…there is not even one “we gonna let that one slide” joint on the entire album.  While you may not love every song, you will have to respect the work ethic and drive for excellence exhibited on this offering from the group…everybody stepped to the plate and smashed!

Warchyld "Church 4 G's"

Warchyld is back with his street anthem “Church 4 G’s”

Philadelphia rapper Warchyld recently released his mixtape “The Streets is Back” hosted by DJ Kay Slay and gives us a sneak preview of what is to come with his street anthem “Church 4 G’s.”  Church is an ode to the OGs of the streets craving for someplace to go and confess because they can’t do it like just anyone else…the song has a very poignant message for those who understand; and gives some education to those on the outside looking in.

Year after year, Philadelphia born rap goon Warchyld has been faithfully holding down the streets of Pennsylvania and the whole East Coast with back-to-back block-burning singles. With the release of his highly anticipated mixtape, “The Streets Is Back“, Warchyld is gracing more magazine covers than your favourite rapper’s favourite rapper.

With noteworthy features in major publications such as Hip Hop Weekly, The Hype Magazine, True Magazine, Mr. Dreamz Magazine, Coast 2 Coast Magazine, Yo! Raps and song placements on popular MTV shows (“Caged“, “The World According To Paris Hilton”) and famous Oxygen TV shows such as “America’s Next Top Model“, Warchyld is without a doubt a future superstar in the making already crossing the border to major success.

Known for his gritty delivery and painful lyrics, combined with hard-hitting beats by extraordinaire producers, the streets disciple will blow your speakers with “The Streets Is Back”, which is available for download via DatPiff.com. Warchyld is an exceptional artist for all of the right reasons. His musical ear and soulful upbringing gave him a sound unlike no one out today.

Grammy Winner Whitney Peyton

Independent hip hop artist Whitney Peyton, won her first Grammy as contributing artist during the 54th annual Grammy Awards. Peyton is a rapper from Philly whose lyrical delivery summons visions of a hip hop dynamo with more years in the game than this young lady. Whitney’s collaborations include projects with other Grammy winners like Lazie Bone (Bone Thugs N Harmony) and Gangsta Boo (Three 6 Mafia).

The Grammy!

Hip hop is Peyton’s main genre however, in 2011 Whitney showed her artistic versatility by taking writing and recording gigs on an anti-bullying album geared towards children titled “All about Bullies…Big and Small.” The album was a hit and gained attention by winning a Grammy Award for “Best Children’s Album” at the 54th annual Grammy Awards in 2012, as well as Parent’s Choice Gold Award from the Parent’s Choice Foundation.

Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, her firecracker personality is totally in line with that city’s musical history and the stellar performers from that area who came before her. An undeniable star quality is exhibited in her stage presence and she is in constant demand, sharing concert stages with well-known acts including Jadakiss, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and too many to name in a short article!

I had the opportunity to speak quickly with Whitney as she begins her recording process for an upcoming full-length release. We discussed her recent EP “Coffee Cups And Combat Boots” which dropped September 4th, 2012 and the motivation behind that project.
