JIMMY DA SAINT:
FROM THE LABEL, TO THE BOOKS, TO THE AWARDS, TO THE STUDIO, PHILLY’S MOGUL IN THE MAKING GOES HARD. New “Black Scarface 4” Book & “The Commission: Back To The Streets” Mixtape Vol. 1 Set for Black Friday Release
[Philadelphia, PA] If you interact with the Urban Music industry in Philly (and in a lot of other places, too), you already know Jimmy Da Saint. It’s hard to negotiate much of anything in the city’s Hip-Hop and R&B circles without crossing his path or needing his co-sign. And his dominating hustle doesn’t stop at just music. He also has a Kung Fu grip on the magazine and book-publishing worlds, too, boasting the current title as the city’s number one selling author – of any genre.
That’s what you call a boss.
Jimmy Da Saint is a VP at Ruffhouse Records under legendary record exec, Chris Schwartz, where he is helping to carve out new paths for artists like Lauryn Hill and Glenn Lewis, along with a new host of prospects, such as his own protégées, ICH Gang, and sugar-sweet singing sensation, Sunny Edwards. He scouts new talent and books Live Nation concerts constantly, making him a mainstay at local and regional music events.
With whatever time is left in his jam-packed day, Jimmy Da Saint is publishing books – a job that he calls his true passion. After a 10-year stint in prison, Jimmy emerged better than when he arrived, with a slew of books that urban readers would eventually scoop up like hotcakes. His most recent release with colleague and former prison pal Freeway Ricky Ross is BLACK SCARFACE 4, set for Black Friday (November 29), and the pre-orders are racking up already for Philly’s certifited “#1 Author of Street Drama.”
At the end of the day, ICH (Inner City Hustlers) is the GANG, and Jimmy Da Saint has put his heart and soul into his group of young rappers that are making a name for themselves on the national circuit. Like a boss, Jimmy is good at spotting talent…and bringing it together to make stellar music. Such is the case with his THE COMMISSION “Back To The Streets Vol. 1” mixtape, featuring original music from Meek Mill, Freeway, Rick Ross, and more. Set for release on Black Friday, it’s the first in a new series of tapes that he hopes will continue to brand him as Philly’s music mogul and star-maker.
The year isn’t even over yet, and Jimmy Da Saint might be one of the most talked-about people in the city’s Hip-Hop scene. His Urban Celebrity Magazine is hosting the annual Philly Hip Hop Awards Show on December 15, making him crazy popular with artists who want some credit for their hard work. It’s just another day in the life of a mogul, and Jimmy Da Saint is quite content. To interview him about his amazing post-incarceration success story, contact Sims Media & PR at
